NM Blogventure

NM Bloggy Meet Up!

My first and only Bloggy Meet Up that I have ever done was in ABQ with a blog friend named Amy.  We enjoyed a delish brunch, beautiful view of the mountains, and friendly conversation about fashion, school, blogging, family, etc.  We even had a chance to snap a cute pic!  Well, it's time for another go at a bloggy meet up in ABQ.  If you are a blogger from New Mexico, you're invited to join me and Amy for a brunch on February 8th.  I'll give more details if you wish to come and join us for a gab session on school, teaching, blogging, TpT, etc. If you wish to check out the super sweet Amy, head on over to Albuquerque Amy's First Graders Blogspot.   Amy's blog is adorable!

Me and Amy

I was thinking that we could make it a Valentine/Heart themed brunch and bring 1 Valentine craft or teaching idea for the grade level you teach.  I will feature you and your creation on my site after the meet up.  Come on NM, join the blogventure!
Ladies, do you want to do a treat exchange as well?   You can comment with your email and I'll include you.  I can match the NM bloggers, so we don't have to worry about shipping.

Hope to see you there!

Teachers Have Heart

I just had to share this amazing fundraiser.  Please take the time to visit her Facebook page and TPT store.  And then share this with your blogger BFF's.  Keep this dear teacher and her son in your prayers.  I'm sure they could use all the help they can get.

Teachers Have Heart Fundraiser
A dear teacher at my school was in a serious car accident. Even more than two months after the accident, she is struggling with her health. In addition to her own medical struggles, her son is very ill. He has recently undergone surgery and the results were not what everyone had hoped and prayed for. Even so, this teacher has remained positive and optimistic through all of these trials. As you can imagine, the medical bills are steep. I wanted to do something to help.

I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my TpT family. Talented sellers donated EIGHTEEN different products to help teachers plan for January and February!!! Every cent made from this product will be donated to the family for their health expenses.

In this unit you will find:
Super Bowl Close Read Passages
Valentine's Day No Prep Centers
ABC Order by the Second Letter- Winter Theme
Addition Center- Adding 2 Three-Digit Numbers
Odd or Even Center- Winter Theme
Capitalization Center- Winter Theme
Fact of Opinion Task Cards: American Symbols
My School Adjectives
Number Puzzles
New Year's: A Booklet of Fun & Facts
Chevron Hearts Clip Art
Colorful Cupcakes Clip Art
My Writing Checklist Bundle
Singular Sentences: Winter Edition

Create a Snowman Addition Center
Sports Bundle: Roll, Add and Color
Word Race

Thanks you for all of your help!

Thanks for taking the time to read, visit her page, share, and purchase.  I know that, together, we can make a difference.  Love you all so much!

Discovery Education

Just wanted to do a quick post about Discover Education today.

Here are some of the amazing resources from Discovery Education Network that I use in my classroom.  From left to right; Atlas, Science Techbook, CCSS Alignment for ELA and Math, Streaming videos and  Free Puzzlemaker.  If you haven't used it yet, it's a must for the classroom!

I make assignments, have students create "blog boards," and complete virtual labs.  Thus far, I've used it for computer lab, homework, and whole group, but learned yesterday how to make centers. I don't know how I hadn't thought of that yet, so pretty "duh" moment for me, but I'm so excited to have participated in this training and can't wait to get started. It's so easy to build assignments and implement this in the classroom.
I  can't wait for some time this weekend to actually sit down and work on this.
I LOVE it and know the kiddos will too!

By the way, I am not paid to advertise for Discovery Education.  I'm just sharing something I love with my followers.  Hope you can take a moment to browse and see what's available for you.

I'd love to know if you use this in your classroom.  How do you use it?  Are you a Den Member or STAR?  Do you use assignment builder or board builder?  Are you as excited as I am about Discovery Ed?  I'll pick one random comment (on my Facebook page) to pick an item of his/her choice  from my TPT store tomorrow night at 8 MST. Please visit my Facebook page to comment.

My husband and I had a busy weekend.  We went on a mini vacay to Taos, NM (fantastic place if you like to ski), went four wheeling with some friends, and saw Lone Survivor.  My husband was in the movie, so I was excited to see it. Amazing movie by the way!

Here are some pics of the Pueblo...

My husband played the role of the Jag, so he had a short stint where he read the Rules of Engagement, but I'm a proud wife to say the least!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Day 5- Organization

I love, love, love Schoolgirl Style.  I am definitely doing buying this to use next year.  I'm totally in love with her poms, daisies, ribbons, lanterns, chalkboards, and tape!
Can't wait to redecorate and organize at the same time!

Melanie has classroom decor by theme.  Here's a list of some of her themes;
Summer, Dogs, Ladybugs, Vintage, Carnival, Bees, Daisies, Polka Dots, Chevrons, Camping, Sea, and Rock Star.

But go check it out for yourself... http://shopschoolgirlstyle.com/

I've been working on organizing everything into binders this year.  I used this for my binder organization and LOVE it!
Ready to binder-ize your classroom, but want to personalize your binders with your own titles, graphics, name, fonts, and more?
Here's the link to purchase this from Brooke from

I do have my classroom library organized pretty well.  Everything is labeled according to reading level and genre.  I probably have thousands of books of all levels and interests.

Here are some pics from Pinterest  of some beautifully organized classroom libraries...

Day 4- Professional

I am halfway through getting an endorsement in Library Science (I LOVE Children's Lit!), but would like to pursue an endorsement in Art Education.  I'm going to look into the requirements and start taking some courses over the summer.  I love teaching art and love even more visiting blogs that have lessons for Elementary Art.  Here are some of my favorite sites...
