We made molecules this week using toothpicks and gumdrops.  The students were all smiles.  This activity goes along with my What is Matter? mini-unit.  It's only $1 in my TpT store this week.  Click on the preview below to go to my shop.  All proceeds from my shop for the month of September are going to help pay for treatments for two precious children with Leukemia.  See my giveaway for more information.

Here are some more pics of my classroom...
We worked on Biographies this week.

I love having lamps on in the classroom.

I got this idea from Ladybug's Teacher Files.
Click on the pic below to visit her blog.  It's so adorable!

This idea came from First Grade Shenanigans. Click the picture to be directed to that blog.
It's really cute, too!

Saturday Snapshots and Giveaway

Garage Sale Finds...

Pillows: $2 each!  Thinking about using these in my reading area.

Laminator with pouches: $5

To those new teachers who are discouraged, frustrated, and feeling like this isn't for you.  You have been called to serve. As Christi said, we have all had rough days, weeks, months, and even years.  But your students admire and love you.  And you may be the only one they have.
So cherish the good times,
treat them with respect,
and love them as they were your own.
As my dad always said, "Be nice to the kids, even if they aren't nice to you."  I always giggle when he says it, but it's so true.  They are precious gifts that have been placed in our care.  Their parents trust that we will encourage, inspire, engage, and love them each day.  Instead, the students teach us to be better.  They teach us the qualities of compassion, perseverance, integrity, honor, loyalty, friendship, and so much more.  I love teaching and truly believe it's my duty to work to the best of my ability, regardless of the circumstances.

We have each other here for love and support. I love being a part of the teacher blogging world and am grateful to have learned, been inspired, and been touched by every single one of you.  Teaching is hard, but being able to come home at the end of the day and be inspired by you makes it that much easier and fun.  I can't thank you enough for sharing your ideas, lessons, and passion for teaching.   Love each of you!
