Budding Bloggers Linky Party

I've linked up at I{heart}Recess for a Budding Blog Linky Party.  You can link up here (if you are new to the blogging world and have fewer than 200 followers).  It's a great way for us to get to know each other.

Here are my answers to the questions.  If you want to link up, answer these questions, link up at I {heart} Recess-just click the photo above, and include the image above on your post.

I started blogging because I love everything about teaching.  I could spend all day planning, looking for resources, and talking about school.  I know that the better prepared I am, the more my students will learn.  When I am prepared, students are engaged and thus fewer discipline referrals, notes home, and behavior lectures.  The blogging world has introduced me to so many amazing teachers.  I truly am blessed and honored to be a part of this community, and hope that I will grow professionally and be able to share my teaching world with you.

I love teaching Reading.  I love seeing a student read about something they didn't know prior.  And finding something they are truly passionate about through their love of reading.  My favorite part of the day is Read Aloud.  I'm always looking for new books to take my class on a journey together.  I love when I tell them I have to stop reading because it's time for recess and they want me to keep reading.  I'd love to hear from you about some of your favorite read alouds.   Feel free to comment.  I'd love to hear from you!

I am fun, firm, fair, and flexible. I want students to feel like they are a part of a family.  Once they step into my room, I consider them my own.  I have high expectations, and want them to strive to be the best; both socially and academically.  I perform Random Acts of Kindness with them throughout the year in our school and community.  We are always looking for ways to help and I know that in doing this, they are learning valuable lessons they will take with them for the rest of their lives.  I'm all about making it memorable.   I admire teachers who go above and beyond to make a difference.

Here's one way you can make a difference.  All you have to do is shop and share!

Some things about me...

I'm a book hoarder. I love going to garage sales and used book stores.  Because of this, I'm blessed with the ability to give books to my students throughout the year.

I secretly want to be a part of the fashion design world...somehow.

 \
I love Restoration Hardware...okay, maybe I secretly want to be in the interior design world...

I love, love, love New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, North Carolina, and Maine. I love big cities, but there's a small town girl in me too!

I love everything nautical!

I love fall and can't wait to wear cute scarfs, boots, and sweaters.  I also love snowy winters (as long as I'm drinking hot chocolate next to an indoor fireplace).  Which leads me to my love of cozy cabins!

I also love hot summers in Tucson (home of the Wildcats- my Alma mater)

And I love me some country boys music.
