Alternative Seating Research, Pictures, and an Opportunity to Help Virtually

So I've been addicted to this idea of creating a classroom that is comfortable, calming, and feels like home.  I've been MIA from blogging for quite some time because I've been staging a house to sell, moving into a new home and decorating, and reading about alternative seating.

Every time we have a Professional Development day, I think it's so uncomfortable.  Throughout the day in my classroom, I'm walking around, sitting on the floor with my students, and moving from one table group to the next.  And then we have a day of collaborating and we have to sit in one place all day.  By lunch time, I'm exhausted, sore, and lack focus.  We get a short break to eat, walk around, and then have to come back for a second round  in the afternoon.  By that time, we're all ready to go home and struggle with staying on task.  No wonder our kiddos are struggling.  So, let's all work together to make our classrooms a better learning environment for our kiddos.

Here's the hard part....
We all have bills to pay, groceries to buy, gas tanks to fill, and more.  Personally, I don't have the means to go out and buy all these fabulous seating choices for my students.  So I created a Donor's Choose project to help.  I would love it if you could help me out by thinking about donating a couple dollars and/or sharing.  If you do that, I'm happy to give you something from my TPT store as a freebie.  Just email me at ateaspoonofthird@aol.com and let me know what you'd like.  Again, I'd love to have more available there, but life has me pretty busy lately.

We Remember Sept. 11

I'm also working on getting my Class Constitution posted in my store, so I'll post about that in a few days. Follow me on FB, IG, or Pinterest for updates and more! Thanks for visiting, and have a great day! Love ya!
I made a Powerpoint a few years ago to teach about September 11th.  It's simple, short, and easy.  It includes information about NYFD, the Tree of Hope, and the Pentagon.  I include a few book recommendations, including The Man Who Walked Between the Towers http://www.amazon.com/The-Man-Walked-Between-Towers/dp/031236878X

It's only $2 in my TPT store.  Click here or click on the picture above if you'd like to purchase and download.

P.S. I'm also working on getting my Class Constitution posted in my store, so I'll post about that in a few days.  Follow me on FB, IG, or Pinterest for updates and more!  Thanks for visiting, and have a great day!  Love ya!

Rounding Rap

Rounding Rap

Take 1 (my yorkie decided she wanted to make an appearance, so I had to do this twice.)  My kiddos are going to love the first one!  Hope you can use this in your classes as well.  Let's share the videos of our classes singing this song this year.  And if you have classroom mascots, like Chloe, please share a pic with my class via Facebook or IG.

Let's try that again...

Take 2...

Fish in a Tree Freebie

https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Fish-in-a-Tree-A-Chicken-a-Wolf-and-a-Problem-2000283

I know I've been MIA for awhile, but I'm back.  Now that school is starting, I'm hoping to come back to the blogging world.  I definitely needed some time for hiking, pool, reading, and other relaxing activities.  This morning I made this activity from Fish in a Tree.  It's super easy for the teacher, but challenging for the students (in a fun way).  It's free in my
store for the rest of the day.  Just click on the photo above to visit my store and download.  Also, everything in my store will be 20% for the TpT Back to School sale, so take a minute to browse and add some items to your wishlists.  Most of my items are only $1 or $2 so you can get a lot for a little!  Hope you have a great day and enjoy this cute icebreaker! Thanks for visiting!
