Mindfulness Corner

I've posted a new Donor's Choose Project recently for a Mindfulness Corner.  Sonic has so generously donated $200 to this project, but we have a ways to go. I'd really appreciate your taking the time to read more about it, share with friends and family, and perhaps donating.  Every dollar counts!  This would bring a space into our classroom that would allow kiddos to self regulate.  Sometimes we just need to take a  break in order to keep going.  This space would give students a place to read quietly, draw pictures, color mandalas, play with some fidgets, or just take a breath.  I don't want this to be a punitive space.  I want for students to ask to go to the corner when they feel like they need a break. I'm actually going to be working on a Google Doc QR code request sheet that they would need to fill out prior to using this space just to give me some more information on why he/she feels they need to use this space. Donors Choose Project and New TpT New Product

 I've been MIA for over a year and I've missed everyone dearly.  I've been taking Grad school classes and have decided that I need to keep blogging in my life.  So I'll update you on a few things I've been working on this week...

First, I have a new Donor's Choose project posted that's currently being matched by the Overdeck Family Foundation and it only needs $70 more dollars for completion. With that being said, I've created two new TpT products in the past week that I'm more than happy to give to anyone who donates to my DC project.  If you donate to my project, please leave a comment with your email and let me know which product you'd like.  And as always, shares are greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for your continued support. I was inspired by Denise Hill's Black History Month Trivia, so I created one for President's Day for my class.  I know this has already passed, but I'm always trying to think/plan ahead.

Testing is coming up next week for us and I wanted to post it some test tips and inspirational quotes around the school.  I created this product with that it mind. It says, "Donut stress, take your time and do your best." I was inspired by this post from The Carly and Adam Blog.  I tried to take a picture of it, but I hung it on the library window facing the playground and the reflection was terrible.  Guess I should have thought about that before hanging it!

Random Acts of Kindness Challenge

I just ran into the dollar store to buy a card for a friend, and grabbed a few items for school. 

I can't seem to ever leave Target, Hobby Lobby, the dollar store, or any store for that matter without grabbing something for school. 

The man behind me in line asked if I was a teacher when he saw the items I had in my hands. 

 He then proceeded to buy the items for me. 

 I started crying, gave him a hug, and told him I would pass this act of kindness on. I’m truly humbled.

Tomorrow I'm going to share this story with my class and their families and challenge them to do something kind for someone else.  I'd like to challenge you to do the same.

 It could be as simple as taking carts in at the store, offering to mow a neighbors lawn, taking handmade cards to the hospital, calling someone, making cookies for a friend, or spending some time volunteering in a nursing home or animal humane society.  I want to hear your story.
